The Centre for Workplace Leadership has released a report focused on increasing gender equality in the Australian workforce.
The report, Workplace Gender and Equality Strategy, was funded by the Department of Employment in response to data released by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency.
The WGEA data revealed only 7% of employers in Australia have a gender equality strategy and only 13% of employers have a strategy for implementing flexible working arrangements.
To help promote improvement, the Centre for Workplace Leadership worked with 10 organisations to review their existing gender equality policies and develop a tailored strategy with concrete steps to improve gender equality in each workplace.
The Centre drew on the WGEA’s Gender Strategy Toolkit to work with the organisations and create the report, which contains the results of the strategy and case studies on the organisations involved.
Professor Peter Gahan, Director of the Centre for Workplace Leadership says the resource will provide guidance for other Australian organisations looking to take a long-term and strategic approach to gender equality.
A copy of the Workplace Gender and Equality Strategy report can be found on the Centre for Workplace Leadership website.
An update of the WGEA data results will be available in November this year.
