Australian Business Register integration

Streamlining the reporting process for employers has been front of mind as the Agency builds the new WGEA reporting system. One new feature of the reporting process is the integration of the WGEA Portal with the Australian Business Register.

What does this mean for me?

When your organisation registers for an Australian Business Number (ABN), your organisation’s identity details are stored in the Australian Business Register (ABR)

When your organisation’s details change, for example, moving to a new office location, you will no longer need to update this information with WGEA. You will only need to update these details with the ABR. All your organisation's identity details will auto-populate from the ABR into the WGEA Portal automatically.

Your organisation’s identity details that will be auto-populated from the ABR include:

  • legal name of organisation

  • trading name, if different to legal name

  • ANZSIC code

  • postal address of parent organisation

  • street address of parent organisation

  • company email address, and

  • if you are a public sector organisation.

Your organisation’s identity details will be auto-populated for both parent and subsidiary organisations. You can update these details at any time via the Australian Business Register website. It may take up to 24 hours for the information to update in the WGEA Portal.

What do you need to do?

  • Make sure your organisation’s identity details are up to date and correct with the ABR.

  • Nothing else, it’s all done for you!
