Gender pay gap costing $1.2 billion a week in lost earnings

The gender pay gap is costing the Australian economy about $1.26 billion each week in lost earnings, according to a new report from KPMG.

The She's Price(d)less report found the key drivers of the gap were the impact of taking time out of paid employment to invest into caring, along with gendered segregation of industries and occupations.

It's the 5th edition of the report, prepared with WGEA and the Diversity Council Australia (DCA).

This report was released on 29 January 2026.
