About

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency is an Australian Government statutory agency that:

Our vision

Our vision is for women and men to be equally represented, valued and rewarded in the workplace.

Our values

Lead
We proactively drive positive gender equality outcomes by developing best-practice solutions and inspiring change.

Innovate
We explore, embrace and create new ways to address gender equality by operating with rigour, flexibility and creativity.

Collaborate
We engage all team members and stakeholders in a respectful and inclusive manner to foster successful partnerships.

Workplace gender equality is achieved when people are able to access and enjoy the same rewards, resources and opportunities, regardless of gender.

See the timeline of key events for gender equality in Australian workplaces over last 50 years, each leading to where we are today.

We are committed to promoting and contributing to understanding, acceptance and public debate of gender equality issues in the workplace.

WGEA is supported by a small team with diverse experience leading research, education, operations, advice and reporting, and public affairs.

Achieving gender equality in the workplace depends on close collaboration with employers.

As a federal government agency, we are required to produce and make publicly available various governance and compliance documentation.
