Employers have an enormous role to play in creating workplaces where people thrive
In my first 90 days at WGEA one message came through consistently. Organisations understand why gender equality matters. They value WGEA's data and insights. They want to understand emerging trends, benchmark their performance and learn from leading practice. What they are increasingly looking for is practical guidance on how to continue to make progress.
What will drive progress now is understanding what works. How do organisations recruit and retain talented people? What encourages men to take parental leave? How do employers increase the representation of women in leadership? How do leadership teams and governing bodies such as boards set the tone for meaningful change? How do employers maintain momentum in a changing environment?
These are all important questions. Stakeholders consistently ask for practical guidance, examples from employers who have overcome challenges, practical tools and support that turn reporting into action. WGEA’s case studies, masterclasses, Gender Equality Accelerator and 1:1 support are helping to do exactly that
What encouraged me most was the strong commitment and genuine appetite across sectors, employers and industry bodies to work alongside WGEA to share knowledge, build capability and accelerate progress.
Barriers remain. But so does momentum. There is broad alignment around the goal of creating workplaces where everyone can contribute, thrive and reach their full potential. Together, we have an opportunity to turn good intention into lasting change.
