Join the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) and the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for the national online report launch for Gender Equity Insights 2024 on Monday 9 September 2024.

Part-time work arrangements have traditionally provided people the opportunity to balance work with other responsibilities, enabling a broader constituency of individuals to participate in the workforce.

But we also know that working part-time can limit pay and career progression resulting in long-term economic disadvantages for women, including lower lifetime earnings and reduced retirement savings.

The ninth report in the Gender Equity Insights Series from BCEC and WGEA, will provide new data on part-time work including the:

  • differing motivations for men and women accessing part-time
  • gendered impact of part-time work on careers
  • potential for other flexible work arrangements to be offered alongside part-time in the future.

Following an opening address from WGEA CEO Mary Wooldridge, hear from experts and employers that are prioritising part-time and flexible work options in their workforce.

A panel discussion, facilitated by Angela Priestly, Co Founder of Women’s Agenda, will include insights from:

(L-R: Angela Priestly, Nicola Campbell, Katrina McPhee, Penelope Cottrill)

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) has announced a new cohort of WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation holders.

WGEA also announced the date for this year’s Equal Pay Day as 19 August, marking 50 days into the new financial year that Australian women must work to earn the same, on average, as men did last year.

Many employers may feel the enormity of closing the gender pay gap is a challenging feat to overcome. But taking the first steps toward progress is simpler than it may look. Here are 4 steps to get started.
