As part of our consultation process for the new WGEA Portal, employers told us that they would like to have as much of the reporting system automated as possible as well as faster upload times. To help achieve this, we have created two new Workplace Profile (WPP) templates for you to choose from.

In addition to the mandatory compliance data we collect, we have introduced several voluntary data fields which will help the Agency, and your organisation, get an even clearer picture of workplace gender equality.

Streamlining the reporting process for employers has been front of mind as the Agency builds the new WGEA reporting system. One new feature that will make the reporting process easier is the integration of the WGEA Portal with the Australian Business Register.  

To mark this year’s Equal Pay Day on 28 August 2020, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) has calculated the date of each Australian state and territory’s Equal Pay Day.

We have waited 59 [un]equal days and finally today is Equal Pay Day, Wednesday 28 August. [Un]Equal Pay Day marks the additional 59 days women must work from the end of the last financial year to earn the same amount as men.

The new reporting system will make the process of reporting simpler and faster for employers. We will provide detailed information about each of these changes between now and next April.

The new national gender pay gap for the six months to May 2020 is 14.0%. This year, Equal Pay Day will be on 28 August 2020, marking the 59 additional days from the end of the previous financial year that women, on average, must work to earn the same as men earnt that year.

Last week, in the lead up to Equal Pay Day, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, (‘the Agency’) in  partnership with KPMG Australia and the Diversity Council of Australia, launched the newest instalment of She’s Price(d)less: the economics of the gender pay gap.
