Changes to reporting documents in 2024:

  • The previous 'Reporting Overview' has been retired and replaced by the Executive Summary which is now available when you complete the submission.
  • The Executive Summary and Industry Benchmark Report will now be at the ABN level and/or the corporate group-wide level
    • Only ABNs that report 80 or more employees will receive an Executive Summary and Industry Benchmark Report
    • For groups where no ABN reports 80 or more employees, you will still receive a corporate group version of these two reports

Important - The corporate group version of the Executive Summary will be released later in the year after the submission period has ended.

  • Corporate group report contacts will be advised when it is available
  • When presenting the Executive Summary to the governing body, the corporate group version can be used in lieu of (or in combination with) the ABN level version of the document.

Changes for submission groups

Corporate groups can organise their organisations into one or more submission groups to complete the annual report. The following changes take effect for 2023-24 submission groups:

Confirming industry for your submission

When starting your submission confirm the following information:

  • A primary industry for each ABN - this is used to categorise and benchmark the data we receive for that ABN, regardless of how it is reported.
  • A primary industry for the submission as a whole - this is used to validate the submission data, what you confirm for the submission is what you should use in your excel worksheets.

Executive Summary

The Executive Summary will generate:

  • for any ABN that reports 80+ employees, and
  • for an entire corporate group when all submissions are complete

The Executive Summary will contain gender pay gap figures for the specific ABN.

Important - The corporate group version of the Executive Summary will be released later in the year after the submission period has ended.

Industry Benchmark Report

The Industry Benchmark Report will generate for:

  • any ABN where an Executive Summary generated

The industry comparison group for each company with 80 or more employees will be based on the primary industry confirmed for the ABN in the Portal upon starting the submission.

Gender pay gap publishing

For corporate groups, the following gender pay gaps will be published:

  • The gender pay gaps of any ABN that reports 80 or more employees - average and median (for base salary and total remuneration)
  • The gender pay gap of the corporate group as a whole - average and median (for base salary and total remuneration)

The Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 identifies relevant employers as being organisations with 100 or more employees, who then continue to report 80 or more employees thereafter. If a subsidiary that reports more than 80 or more employees but has never once reached 100 or more:

  • You may advise WGEA to have the subsidiary be opted out of gender pay gap publishing.
  • The data will still be required to be reported and will only appear as part of the corporate group information that is published.

Individual subsidiaries must always report regardless of their employee size if the total of the entire corporate group is 80 or more employees, for more eligibility information please see this chapter.
