Questionnaire

The Questionnaire is an online survey covering an employer’s policies, strategies, and actions on gender equality. Specifically, the questionnaire covers:

• Policies and strategies that support gender equality in your workplace 
• Your workplaces’ governing bodies
• Action your workplace has taken:
  • on gender pay gaps and pay equity
  • to consult employees on gender equality
• Employee support available throughout your workplace, including:
  • flexible working
  • paid parental leave
  • support for carers
• Harm prevention actions your workplace has taken, including those relating to:
  • sexual harassment and discrimination
  • family and domestic violence support

The Questionnaire forms one of three components of the submission to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency each year.

Response options are typically in a ‘tick a box’ or ‘yes/no’ format, with optional ‘free-text’ boxes throughout for additional information. All mandatory questions must be answered for the Questionnaire to be marked as completed. An asterisk (*) denotes that the question is mandatory.

The questions do not have to be completed in order and the Questionnaire does not have to be completed all at once or by the same person. Work is continuously saved as the Questionnaire is completed.

Pre-populated answers

Some questions in the Questionnaire will be pre-populated with responses from the previous submission. Review pre-populated responses to ensure the responses are still accurate. Changes can be made to the pre-populated responses if needed.

Voluntary questions

The Questionnaire contains several voluntary questions that you may choose to answer.

Any voluntary response will not be published be WGEA in any public reports as it may contain sensitive, private or confidential information (for example, information that could be used to identify any individual employee).

Find the questions being asked in the Questionnaire in 2024 (for the 2023 reporting year), on the Reporting overview and templates page. Please note that the Questionnaire is to be filled out online, in the Portal—the questions are provided for your review only.

Once the Questionnaire is complete, you can generate a summary of your responses from the home page of your submission.
