Certificate of Compliance

To be eligible for a Certificate of Compliance, relevant employers must lodge their Gender Equality Report within the lodgement period (or approved extension period) and meet all reporting compliance requirements.

Relevant employers that do not meet their compliance requirements may not be eligible to compete for government contracts under the Commonwealth Procurement Framework and may not be eligible for Commonwealth grants or other financial assistance.

Workplace Gender Equality Procurement Principles

The Workplace Gender Equality Procurement Principles outline the steps employers must take to comply with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (the Act) to participate in government procurement. They also provide detail on how employers can demonstrate compliance. Information can be found on the Department of Finance website.

Demonstrating compliance

Relevant employers seeking to supply goods or services to government at or above $80,000, must provide a WGEA issued Certificate of Compliance as part of the procurement process.

When are Certificates of Compliance issued by WGEA

When a relevant employer lodges their Gender Equality Report within the lodgement period (or approved extension period) and meets all reporting compliance requirements, the employer will be deemed compliant with the Act and therefore eligible to receive a Certificate of Compliance.

If an employer requires a Certificate of Compliance earlier for a tender deadline, please contact us by lodging a support request via the Employer Portal or by emailing support@wgea.gov.au. In your request, please explain the reason for the request and ask for the certificate to be expedited due to an upcoming tender.

How are Certificates of Compliance issued?

WGEA Certificates of Compliance are issued via email only. They are sent directly to the employer’s reporting contacts.

  • This approach provides faster and easier access for report contacts, removing the need to log in to the Employer Portal.
  • Certificates can be saved, shared and used immediately, improving usability and accessibility.
