Register to report

All employers who meet WGEA’s Relevant employer definition must register with WGEA before lodging their first Gender Equality Report (Report). Once registered, employers are automatically enrolled in future reporting programs. 

Tendering for a government contract

If you are not a relevant employer and are tending for a government contract, refer to Government tenders.

 

How to register

Register through the Employer Portal

1Log in and choose ‘Register’.

Select your organisation type:

  • I am a standalone organisation - single ABN entity with no parent organisation and no subsidiaries.
     
  • I am part of a corporate group - if you are registering a corporate group, this includes a parent organisation and one or more employing ABNs (subsidiaries).
3If you are a Commonwealth public sector employer, select 'Yes' to the question 'Are you a public sector organisation?'
4Complete the registration form with all of the details in Information required to register.
5Review your entries.
6Accept the declaration and submit the form.

Once your registration has been completed correctly, a confirmation message will appear on your screen. You will also get a confirmation email with further information about your reporting obligations.

Registration deadlines

When you register determines when you lodge your first Report.

Private sector registration deadline

Registrations submitted before the start of each private sector lodgement period (1 April to 31 May) will be enrolled to report in that year's program.

Public sector registration deadline

Registrations submitted before the start of each public sector lodgement period (1 September to 31 October) will be enrolled to report in that year’s program.

On or after 1 SeptemberBetween 1 September to 31 October the following year.

Information required to register

To register with WGEA, an employer must complete an online registration form. The registration form collects details about the organisation. If the organisation is part of a corporate group, it must also include information about all subsidiaries and related employing entities.

Before accessing the registration form, have this information ready:

Organisation details
  • Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • if your organisation does not have an ABN, provide the Australian Company Number (ACN)
  • legal name of organisation
  • trading name, if different to legal name
  • total number of employees
  • organisation ANZSIC Code
  • postal address of organisation
  • street address of organisation
  • company email address (optional, but we recommend a shared/group mailbox that staff can access to ensure important information is received  in case the reporting contact is unavailable)
  • company phone number (optional, but recommended)
  • not for profit status.
Primary contact details

The primary reporting contact receives reporting notifications, updates and reminders, including reminders about reporting due dates and if they are at risk of being non-compliant.

  • First and last name
  • Title
  • Position/name of role
  • Email address (work email)
  • Phone number
CEO or head of organisation

The CEO (or equivalent) receives limited but important communications about Gender Equality Reporting.

  • First and last name
  • Title
  • Position/name of role
  • Email address (or staff contact – work email)
Corporate groups - additional information required

If your organisation is part of a corporate group, you must also provide: 

  • details for the ultimate parent (whether domestic or global, employing, or non-employing)
  • the above list of details for each employing entity (subsidiary) within the corporate group
  • global parent organisation - if the parent organisation is based outside Australia, select the check box.

Next steps after registering

After you submit your registration application, a WGEA staff member will review and process the registration request.

If we require further information to assess your statusWe will attempt to contact the primary reporting contact via the email addresses listed on the registration form.
If we do not require further information and your employer is deemed asA relevant employerYou will be enrolled in a Gender Equality Reporting program and receive a registration outcome email with further information and instructions to prepare for reporting.
Not a relevant employerYou will receive a registration outcome email with information about why you have not been registered to report.

Adding a subsidiary to a registered corporate group
