As part of the preparation outlined in Reporting steps, relevant employers must ensure all organisation and contact details are up to date so that:
- we can communicate with your organisation throughout the reporting process
- you can lodge a Gender Equality Report that accurately reflects your organisation.
Are you missing important emails from us?
We recommend that your IT department add all email domains ending in '.gov.au' to their safe sender list.
Contact and role changes
Employers are responsible for keeping their contact details up to date.
We recommend:
- Having more than one reporting contact, with different emails, to avoid disruptions (e.g. if staff leave your organisation or are absent).
- Ensuring the CEO's (or equivalent) contact details are accurate to facilitate important compliance communication.
Contact roles
The role assigned to a contact determines what communication they receive from us during the reporting process.
| Role | Communication |
|---|---|
| Reporting contact/primary reporting contact | This contact will receive both general and important reporting communications. |
| CEO | This contact will receive limited but very important compliance communications. WGEA requires the CEO or head of business to be an active contact and have this role assigned to them. |
| No role | This contact will receive no communications from WGEA. |
We recommend adding an additional contact with a shared mailbox address that is accessible by a team, so important communication is not missed.
For example, you may wish to set up:
Contact name: Human Resources/Payroll
Contact email: hr or payroll@example.com.au
Contact role: reporting contact
Types of contact changes
| Change | Process |
|---|---|
| Adding a new contact to your organisation's account |
|
| Update your CEO or head of business |
Please include:
|
| Removing a contact from your organisation account |
|
| Add/change/remove a contact role |
|
Changes to an organisation's legal structure
Changes to an organisation's legal structure require formal notification to WGEA. Changes must be lodged in writing via the WGEA Employer Portal (as a support request) or you can refer to Contact us.
Examples of reportable changes:
- legal name change
- an ABN no longer employs staff or has been sold
- a new subsidiary employing staff has joined the corporate group
- a corporate group has been wholly acquired
- an employer has merged with another employer.
What to include in a request:
- details of the change
- reason for the change
- ABN(s) affected.
For information on the differences between corporate group and standalone employer reporting, refer to the Corporate structures page.
Industry Classification (ANZSIC Code)
Employer Portal users can update their organisation's industry code (ANZSIC Code) within the Employer Portal.
- Once you have logged in, select the 'Organisation' tab.
- You will see your organisation(s) as a link. Select the link.
- Select the yellow button labelled 'Add industry'.
- You will be required to select an industry 'subdivision' and 'class'.
- Select 'Save' to confirm the change.
A full list of ANZSIC classifications is available at the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
