Preparing to report

Preparation prior to the lodgement period (1 April to 31May) is key to ensuring a smooth and compliant reporting process. Follow the steps below to confirm your organisation's details, prepare your data, and lodge your Gender Equality Report on time. 

Employer portal access

The Employer Portal is where you prepare and lodge your annual report.  We recommend you check your access to the Employer Portal ahead of time to avoid delays during the lodgement period.

Confirm or update organisation details

We strongly encourage you to log into the Employer Portal to check your organisation’s details and update them if required.

Review reporting changes

If you have previously reported, refer to Reporting changes to check for any changes to the reporting process or documents since you last lodged a report. 

Know your reporting deadline

Private sector employers must lodge their report within the lodgement period (1 April and 31 May, or within an approved extension period).

Workplace Profile

Note: Choose one type of Workplace Profile template to complete.

Unit level Template (recommended) 

2024-25 Workplace Profile - Unit level template (XLSX, 721.3 KB)

The Workplace Profile is an Excel worksheet designed to collect information about workforce composition, base salaries, and total remuneration.

  • The unit level profile requires less data to complete than the STP-calculated template
  • Employers must do their own calculations of salary/remuneration but have full control over the final figures provided for each employee.

STP/Payroll Template

The Workplace Profile is an Excel worksheet designed to collect information about workforce composition, base salaries, and total remuneration. 

  • The STP/Payroll file is designed for users with a sound knowledge of different payment types and terms relating to the way in which they are paid.
  • Using the file removes the need for manual salary and remuneration calculations to a full year and full-time equivalent amount as the template will perform this calculation.

The Workforce Management Statistics (WMS) is an Excel worksheet designed to collect information about employee movements, including appointments, promotions, resignations, and parental leave.

  • You must complete and upload one Workforce Management Statistics file for each employing ABN reported in your submission(s).
  • Please use the partnership version of the file below if your organisation has equity or non-equity partners.

The Workforce Management Statistics (WMS) is an Excel worksheet designed to collect information about employee movements, including appointments, promotions, resignations, and parental leave.

  • You must complete and upload one Workforce Management Statistics file for each employing ABN reported in your submission(s).
  • Please use the normal version of the file listed above if your organisation does not have equity or non-equity partners.

Submission approval form

2024-25 Submission Approval Form (PDF, 58.25 KB)

Employers can use this form to record the approval and sign off of their CEO (or equivalent) to lodge the Gender Equality Report in the Employer Portal. WGEA does not require physical evidence of the CEO’s signature to be uploaded.
